Land and Wildlife Management - 2009/05/09 14:27 GMT I am hearing a lot about BioHaven Floating Islands. What is it exactly? I want to know more about this.

Re:Land and Wildlife Management - 2009/05/11 05:04 GMT BioHaven Floating Islands is the newest environment friendly concept. It is basically using recycled plastic mesh that has multiple functions in a water body. BioHavens cleans the water, improves wildlife habitat and beautifies a waterscape. It is also more cost effective than building an actual island. Patriot LWM are certified installers of BioHaven in Maryland. Log on to their site http://patriotlwm.com for details.

Re:Land and Wildlife Management - 2010/04/27 08:58 GMT A BioHaven floating island is an advanced form of Floating Treatment Wetland which "bio-mimics" natural floating wetland systems invented by Nature. Vegetated with native plants (preferably perennials), it is a beautiful, natural and sustainable eco-system which provides many benefits, from habitat restoration to water cleansing.

There are many products in the BioHaven range: BioHaven® floating islands, The Leviathan™, BioHaven Living Walkways™, Shadow Islands™ and Elevated Bio Swales™.

BioHavens® are protected by many patents pending and US patent #7,555,866.

BioHavens do five things:

1. They remove pollutants from a waterway, including nitrates, phosphates, ammonia and heavy metals

2. They provide critical riparian edge habitat - in fact, new land mass for use by all kinds of creatures, from microbes to humans

3. They sequester carbon and other greenhouse gases

4. They provide wave mitigation and erosion control

5. They beautify a waterscape
