Sustainable cities - 2009/05/08 09:29 GMT Land management norms shall be modified to convert all cities into 'sustainable cities'. Sustainable cities shall have own farms - diaries, graneries and orchards within its territory or in the suburbs.

Inhabitants of such a city shall manage the city farms as a 'cooperative' to have enough food through alternative means (organic agriculture or permaculure). All the inhabitants shall also be encouraged to produce some vegetable crops, at least through terrace farming - there shall be municipal or other organic shops in cooperative sector. There shall be sufficient opportunities for the inhabitants to donate or work on nominal daily wages (part-time) as a support to the farms; wage shall always in terms of farm produce and not currency.

In sustainable city concept, inhabitants shall manage bio-waste themselves (composting or bio-gas) and reduce generation of other soild wastes; they have to cooperate with the municipal authorities in collecting such wastes separately and also in bringing the waste periodically to special collection centres.

All shall be charged a waste management tax; extra charges shall be demanded from persons who do not manage bio-waste themselves or are not ready to bring other wastes to the collection centres in a pure and classified form.

In sustainable city reforms, the cities shall have a centralized plan for maintaining trees inside (there shall be a census of trees). Inhabitants who maintain more trees shall be given special incentives - tree allowence; those who cut trees shall pay special tax for growing up new trees in their own territories or outside; if somebody grow plants in their own grounds they shall be given financial support in early periods to support the cultivation (tax collected while cutting trees may be used for growing new trees or special municipal fund may be used)

In sustainable city concept, inhabitants shall be encouraged to conserve as much energy as possible; those who conserve energy and use only the minimum are to be encouraged with incentives.
