Re:Acces to Land - 2008/09/18 08:40 GMT Dear Elena,

Many thanks for your very informative post.

It is so good to read about the good work of Fundacion Guatemala. As a long time member of the Huairou Commission, we know and appreciate your work - it is so valuable - so may have learned from you through exchanges and other processes.

Indeed, there is a lot to learn from Fundacion Guatemala. Elena you mention the Land Fund, I know that Fundacion has worked hard to ensure this is successful - the Land Lease programme you speak of is great innovation and very useful for women.

It highlights another point you raise, that through networking and working together, grassroots women's groups can amke great strides in pushing legislation, and for accountability from government.

Lastly, your remind us that women are not homogenous, and thus, we must insist on crteria that takes this into consideration. Elena, as an indigenous woman, faces two levels of discrimination. Criteria need to ensure all levels of discrimination are addressed by tools.

How does Elena's concrete example of the great work of her organization, Fundacion Guatemala assist us in further clustering criteria. Could some criteria, focused on the various levels of discrimination, be clustered? How about criteria around women's participation in land tools? Is this a cluster?

Let us further the thinking on clusters of criteria.

Some logistics...

Also to let you know, the Summary of Week 1, which gives many ideas for clustering and may be found on the right of the Train motif on the first page, will be translated into Spanish quite soon!

Many thanks for taking the time to translate your comments, Elena and Mara. It should be noted, that if you wish you can write in spanish and it can be translated from our side. (I am sorry to say we only have this available for Spanish)

Also please let us know if you are having troubles posting etc.

Many thanks again Elena - Muchas gracias!
