Land for Sustainable Urbanisation in Africa
The  Global Land Tool Network (GLTN)  organised  an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on "Land for Sustainable Urbanisation in Africa". The EGM took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 21-22 February 2008.

The main objective of the meeting was to highlight and debate urban land issues and messages that can inform decision making in the African context. African participants will take to the sixteenth session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-16) scheduled for New York 5-16 May 2008.  

Participants adopted key messages and recommendations in the following areas: sustainable urbanization, continuum of land rights, urban rural  continuum, land governance, gender equity, capacity development, land information and management, and harmonization of the regulatory framework.

More than 30 participants from various African organizations and countries attended the EGM along with other UN agencies (FAO and ECA).
